Wallace and Christy Smith, and their daughters Hanna and Hollyn, moved to Shawnee in 2008 to start Journey Community. Wallace is a native of Winfield, Kansas (the home of Mary Ann from "Gilligan's Island"!). Wallace and Christy met in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana, where he served as associate minister at the First Baptist Church of Indianapolis for over 10 years.
Christy is a teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District and leads our Children's Ministry team. Wallace is the pastor of Journey Community, though perhaps a different adjective for his role and vision for the church would be "spiritual environmentalist": helping to create a space for people to genuinely explore faith and life together, complete with questions, doubts, fears, struggles, and grace, in a natural and healthy envronment with plenty of "Living Room."
Jill Pruett serves as treasurer for Journey Community. Jill is a Certified Public Accountant and manages her own firm in the Kansas City Metro area. Jill and her family are active members of
